Being properly packed is the best way
to ensure a smooth move.
Not only will your stuff be safer,
but your movers will work more efficiently.
Before you move...
Donate, sell, or dump any unwanted items before the move. Moving is a great excuse to purge, and you do not want to pay us for moving thing you no longer needed.
Schedule your move on the same day as street cleaning to avoid buying SFMTA parking permits.
Painters tape and post it notes work great for labeling. If you have multiple drop-offs, or thing that do not need to be moved, make sure it's clearly marked.
Contact your building's management if the elevator or loading dock needs to be reserved. They may also require a deposit and/or certificate of insurance.
Preparing for your move
Keep the weight of your boxes reasonable. Pack heavy and dense objects into small boxes and lighter items in large boxes.
Pack breakables with packing paper, not bubble wrap. It's way faster and much cheaper.
Organize and Label your boxes with the final room you want them to be in.
Bundle long and loose objects together with tape (brooms, mops, curtain rods, etc.)
